School Psychology Hosts Race, Racism and Social Justice Discussion, Endorses NASP Call to Action

The school psychology program held a discussion on race, racism, and social justice for students on Thursday, June 4th.

"We are grateful to Drs. Miriam Thompson and Craig Murphy for creating a safe space for the school psychology community to process current events and begin thinking about our own role in taking meaningful action in schools and in our own lives," said School Psychology Department Chair Dr. Arlene Silva. "We stand united as a faculty behind NASP’s call to action to end racism and violence against people of color. We stand in solidarity with the Black community, and are committed to learning more about how we as school psychology faculty members can better address systemic inequities and racial injustice."

NASP, or the National Association of School Psychologists, is a professional association that represents more than 25,000 school psychology professionals. The world's largest organization of school psychologists, NASP works to advance effective practices to improve students' learning, behavior, and mental health. Our vision is that all children and youth thrive in school, at home, and throughout life.
