BS in Psychology and Human Services New Student Checklist
Psychology and Human Services BS Checklist
This checklist was developed to assist entering students with their transition to the BS in Psychology and Human Services completion program. Please read it over carefully, and be sure to complete all the items as noted.
You should receive an email from the Information Technology (IT) Department with instructions on how to set up your email and access to all WJC systems. Check your junk/spam folder as it sometimes gets filtered there by your personal email. It is important that you set up your email and check it on a daily basis. You should use your WJC email to communicate with the college.
Registration and Academic Advisor Assignment
The Director of Undergraduate Studies will register all students for their first semester at WJC. The schedule will be reviewed during Orientation and any changes can be made at that time.
Academic Advisors will be assigned prior to Orientation. Students should expect to receive a welcome letter from their Academic Advisor a week or more before Orientation. Academic Advisors will be present during Orientation and will meet with all new advisees at that time.
Ed Tech Orientation
You will receive an email about this online tutorial that introduces the student to the College’s technologies. You are required to complete this online orientation before attending the in-person orientation.
All students are asked to bring their laptop to the college orientation. If a student plans to work from a desktop computer or does not have a working laptop computer, please notify the Director of Undergraduate Studies, kerri_augusto@williamjames.edu.
Textbook List
Students should purchase required textbooks from their preferred vendor before the start of classes. Lists of required textbooks may be emailed to you in advance of the semester. Please check with Department Coordinator, Ariana Schreibman, ariana_schreibman@williamjames.edu, for any questions. When available, lists are also posted here.
Fall Orientation
Students who are enrolled in the blended program, including all students who rely on VA funding, must attend the in-person orientation on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM. Lunch will be provided.
Students who are enrolled in the fully online program will attend an online orientation on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM ET. Students will have a one hour break from 12:00–1:00 PM ET for lunch, but are expected to be logged in during the remaining time. The zoom link will be provided at a later date.
Please note that the blended and online programs are not interchangeable, and students are expected to participate in their assigned orientation. If there are any questions, please contact the program Director at kerri_augusto@williamjames.edu.
