Celebrating Excellence: Faculty Research Awards
The Center for Psychological Science and the Scholarship & Research Committee at William James College are pleased to announce the latest recipients of the internal faculty research awards. Congratulations to Dr. Carolyn Rabin, Professor and Director of the Clinical Health Psychology Concentration in the PsyD in Clinical Psychology program, and Dr. Steven Barreto, Associate Professor.
Carolyn Rabin, PhD, received a Faculty Seed Grant for an empirical project entitled, Understanding & Enhancing Disclosure Efficacy in Cancer Survivors. Disclosure efficacy refers to the level of confidence that cancer survivors have in their ability to discuss their cancer with others. The aims of this project are to investigate the factors that shape levels of disclosure efficacy among survivors and determine whether a brief psychoeducational intervention can enhance disclosure efficacy.
Steven Barreto, PhD, received a Manuscript Development Award to take the lead role in developing the revised and updated 2nd edition of Evaluating and Treating Families: A Guide to the Problem-Centered Systems Therapy of the Family (PCSTF). This revised clinical resource will be the most comprehensive description of the evidenced-based model of family therapy known as the Problem-Focused Systemic Treatment of the Family or PCSTF.
Dr. Sunny Dutra, Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Center for Psychological Science, shared with the William James College community, “Congratulations to our colleagues, whose empirical research and other scholarly work serves to advance the state of scholarship in their chosen areas, and adds novel and important insights to our collective knowledge. In combination with their 'on the ground' contributions in the classroom and in the community, these recipients truly embody the reciprocal relationship between the science and practice of psychology.”
The recognition of Dr. Rabin and Dr. Barreto highlights the commitment of William James College to fostering innovative research and practical applications in psychology. Their achievements not only contribute to their respective fields but also inspire the academic community to pursue excellence in research and education.
