Field Education for Clinical Psychology PsyD in Rhode Island
Five Years of Supervised Clinical Training Experience
As a Clinical Psychology PsyD student at our Rhode Island campus, you’ll graduate with five years of supervised clinical training experience. During each year of your program, you’ll work with our Field Education Office to find a placement opportunity tailored to suit your career interests and goals.
Clinical practica, advanced clinical practica and internship experiences are coordinated with academic seminars and coursework. At field placements, students receive individual and/or group clinical supervision in addition to academic and professional training seminars. All placements are reviewed and approved by the Director of Field Education.
Field Placement
Clinical practica and advanced practica are completed in person at local sites, with a full-time internship in Year 5. In Years I and II, practica focus on core training goals, including exposure to diverse populations, lifespan issues, theoretical approaches, assessment methods, and intervention strategies. All students complete advanced practica in Years III and IV, aligned with their training level and APA competency standards. The fifth-year internship is a full-time, nationally matched placement that allows students to pursue a wide range of clinical interests.
