Dr. Niko Wilson, 2024 MaMHCA Mental Health Counselor Educator of the Year

Dr. Niko Wilson,  Assistant Professor in the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department and Director of the Couples and Family Therapy Emphasis at William James College, has been named the 2024 Mental Health Counselor Educator of the Year by the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association (MaMHCA).

The MaMHCA Mental Health Counselor Educator Award is given to an educator, supervisor, or other academic professional who spends more than half their time on LMHC-focused academic work, such as teaching, training, consultation, supervision, research, or program development. It is intended to recognize outstanding humanitarian service to graduate students in academia.

Wilson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She has been practicing in a variety of settings since 2013, including private practice, community agencies, and an equine therapy ranch, but presently runs her own private practice, which focuses on providing supervision. She specializes in trauma-informed, relational work with individuals, couples, and families. Wilson completed her masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University and her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Central Florida.
