Sharon Shapiro and Michael Jellinek, MD, have been appointed to the Board of Trustees

The Newton Beacon, an independent, nonprofit, and non partisan digital news organization,  has announced the addition of two new William James College board members, Sharon Shapiro from Brookline and Dr. Michael Jellinek from Newton.

Shapiro, a registered dietician, brings her experience from long-term care facilities and her role as trustee and community liaison at the Ruderman Family Foundation (RFF), an internationally recognized organization that works to end the stigma associated with mental health — grant funding from RFF has helped to bring valuable resources to the College Mental Health Initiative at William James College. Shapiro has multiple degrees in psychology and nutrition and has contributed to significant publications on student leave of absence. Shapiro is an active member of the Greater Boston Philanthropic community and has an unwavering commitment to addressing social causes including the pressing mental health crisis and the inclusion of people with disabilities in all facets of life.

Dr. Jellinek, a seasoned physician and former chief of child psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, founded Ulysses Consulting, LLC, and co-developed the Pediatric Symptom Checklist, for which he received the William James College Mental Health Humanitarian Award in 2014. With extensive experience in hospital administration and leadership, he has authored numerous publications and led major projects, including the construction of the Yawkey Ambulatory Center.

We are proud to welcome Sharon Shapiro and Dr. Michael Jellinek to our Board of Trustees.
