“We commend their accomplishments as they have distinguished themselves with excellence in the classroom and field,” said Dr. Stacey Lambert, vice president for Academic Affairs.

William James College maintains a practitioner faculty, and for many years used a recognition system related to that practice. However, the College switched to a formal academic rank system in recent years to better acknowledge the scholarship and professional activities of faculty members and to assist in attracting clinical researchers who plan to make a career in higher education.

The William James College Faculty Rank System endorses “faculty rank considerations that support, appreciate, and reward a mosaic of talent that includes inclusive teaching, practice, and research.”

Per the faculty handbook, the broader definition of scholarship that supports the ranking system is designed to “sustain creativity, support diversity, equity and inclusion, maintain ethical standards and promote the values intrinsic to William James College’s distinct mission: Meeting the Need … Making a Difference.”
