Eva Coutinho is a 1st year student in the Clinical Psychology program at William James College. She was born and raised in Cape Verde, is fluent in Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole, and is learning Spanish and Korean. Her work experience as a substance use counselor has highlighted to her the critical need to address systemic barriers to improve treatment prognosis and outcomes. Eva pursued degrees in Psychology and Chemical Dependency/Addiction Studies at Rhode Island College and graduated Magna Cum Laude. As a first-generation college student, she is passionate about integrating intersectionality into the study of psychopathology. Moreover, Eva aspires to expand on research that focuses on competent interventions for racial and ethnic minorities.
