Juan Rosario
2017 Lucero Scholar, Clinical Psychology PsyD
Born in Manati, Puerto Rico.BA in Justice Studies from Northeastern Illinois University.
Hello my name is Juan Rosario and I’m a first year PsyD student at William James College. I was born in Manati, Puerto Rico and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I completed my undergraduate degree at Northeastern Illinois University. While at NEIU I majored in Justice Studies and minored in Criminology. In addition, I completed a handful of psychology courses. I’m also the first in my family to earn a bachelor’s degree and pursue Doctoral studies. While in Chicago I had the pleasure of working as a caregiver providing care to clients with Alzheimer’s. While immersing myself in my role, I became extremely interested in neuropsychology. For this reason I chose William James College to fulfill my dream of becoming a Clinical Psychologist. Being a Lucero Scholar has provided me with the financial assistance to move forward in my studies, and overlaps with my professional goals. Some of my clinical interests and passion are report writing in Spanish, biofeedback, and utilizing my Spanish speaking capabilities to positively impact the lives of underserved Spanish speaking populations. Additionally, I envision myself pursuing a post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology and an MS in Clinical Psychopharmacology. Lastly, it is an honor to have been chosen as one of the LMHP scholars and I am truly grateful to be a part of the LMHP team.
