This course provides the theoretical foundations and fundamental skills for the delivery of consultation services in schools using a problem solving approach. Students are introduced to several models, such as mental health, behavioral, and instructional and systems-level consultation. Applicable interventions in consulting with parents, teachers, and administrators around individual and systems issues are reviewed. Ethical and diversity issues are also explored. Students practice consultation skills through assignments, conducted in their practicum placements. Open only to students in the School Psychology program, or by permission of instructor. Pre-requisite: BC521 (or the equivalent).
