Counseling and Behavioral Health Department
Department Overview
Meet the Ever-Changing Behavioral Health Needs of Your Community
We believe that the best learning comes from integrating classroom knowledge with hands-on experience. Through internships, in-person residencies, peer collaboration, or other experiential learning opportunities, you will receive important training in the behavioral health field. If you are the type of person who wants to make a difference in the lives of others, our on-campus and online counseling programs, our Master of Arts in Psychology program, or our bachelor’s degree-completion program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to effect positive change.
Each of our programs in the Counseling and Behavioral Health department will prepare you for a variety of mental health and human service careers as well as give you a strong academic and clinical foundation if you choose to further your education. With rigorous academic instruction, expert faculty, and personalized attention and mentoring, you will grow as a professional and as a person throughout your time at William James College.
"In a world where mental health services are increasingly needed, choosing this career means that you become an integral part of creating a better society. You will use your assessment and counseling skills to bring clarity to situations and to help others become empowered to change their own lives and the lives of others."
—Nilda M. Laboy, PsyD Chair, Counseling and Behavioral Health Department
