MFT600 - Clinical Skills

Credits: 3

This course lasts 15 weeks and consists of 2 hours weekly in the classroom with a counseling faculty as well as one hour weekly of asynchronous learning for a total of 3 credits. The course introduces students to basic counseling skills as well as the intake interview and mental status exam; the class is largely devoted to learning and practicing these skills. Course content will also address, as needed, ethics, psychopathology, counseling theory, systemic approaches, and the role of the self in counseling.
