This course is designed to provide students with an enriched immersion experience working with community group members in Middelberg South Africa. The course focuses on increasing students’ sensitivity to diversity and difference through learning and sharing cross-cultural experiences. Specifically, the course aims to enhance competence in building effective relationships with culturally diverse populations, develop an understanding of the bridge between psychological theory and its application to multicultural groups, increase awareness of ethics and standards appropriate to professional practice with ethnically diverse populations, and expand the global perspectives of students in the field of mental health.
