This course is designed to provide students with an enriched immersion experience and exposure to the Latinx/Hispanic community. The course focuses on increasing students’ sensitivity to diversity and difference, promoting learning and sharing of cross-cultural experiences, enhancing competence in building effective relationships with culturally diverse populations, understanding the bridge between psychological theory and its application to multicultural groups, increasing awareness of ethics and standards appropriate to professional practice with ethnically diverse populations. This course is designed to provide the background and preparation for LMHP concentration students to address social emotional well-being and needs of Latinx/ Hispanic individuals, as well as to provide guidance to students during the immersion experience. Prerequisite: CC549.
